What is accredited fan testing and who needs it?

COCH Kraków offers professional fan testing for manufacturers and end-users who need verified performance, Ecodesign conformity and electrical safety — covered by PCA AB 308 accreditation.

Characteristics are determined in accordance with PN-EN ISO 5801, ANSI/AMCA 210 / ASHRAE 51 and Ecodesign regulations (EU) 327/2011 and (EU) 2024/1834 (PCA AB 308). The laboratory covers airflows from 0 to 5000 m³/h.

We support both type-approval / market-entry documentation and R&D optimisation of radial and axial fans used in HVAC, refrigeration and industrial systems.

Tests are covered by PCA AB 308 accreditation with ILAC MRA recognition — reports are accepted across the ILAC zone without repeat testing abroad.

  • Airflow and pressure rise measurement on standardised airways (ISO 5801 / AMCA 210).
  • Ecodesign (EU) 327/2011 efficiency verification for motors 125 W–500 kW.
  • LVD electrical safety and Polish B-mark testing.
  • Laboratory capacity: fans with airflows 0–5000 m³/h.

Fan testing at COCH Kraków — airflow and pressure measurement

Scope of testing & offer

Accredited aerodynamic, energy and safety tests for ventilation fans.

Fan types we test

Centrifugal (radial)

Air drawn in axially and discharged radially — preferred where higher pressure rise is required.

Axial

Air drawn in and discharged axially — suitable for higher volume flows at lower pressure rise.

Pressure category (ΔPc)

Low pressure
up to 720 Pa
Medium pressure
720 – 3600 Pa
High pressure
3600 – 30000 Pa

We determine performance characteristics and verify Ecodesign and LVD requirements on standardised laboratory airways.

Fan testing equipment at COCH Kraków laboratory

Real airflow measurement

Precise measurement of actual volume flow so the fan can be verified against declared performance.

Fan pressure rise (total & static)

Determination of total and static pressure rise — key to overcoming duct and system resistance.

Operating characteristics

Full performance curves linking airflow, pressure rise and shaft power across the operating range.

Ecodesign / ErP conformity

Verification for fans with motor input 125 W–500 kW under Commission Regulation (EU) No 327/2011 and the successor Regulation (EU) 2024/1834 (applicable from 24 July 2026).

LVD compliance assessment

Low Voltage Directive electrical safety tests required for CE marking on the EU market.

Electrical safety (B-mark)

Tests supporting the Polish B safety mark — confirmation of electrical and mechanical safety.

Standards & regulations applied
