Who is this training for?

Acquire the qualifications and authorizations necessary for the correct installation, commissioning, regulation, and maintenance of geothermal and air source heat pumps.

The training for heat pump installers, service technicians, and operators of geothermal and air source heat pumps is ideal for those who plan to take the exam before the Examination Board appointed by the President of UDT (Office of Technical Inspection) and apply for a RES certificate in renewable energy sources – heat pumps. Our course at COCH Kraków combines an exhaustive theoretical lecture with intensive practical workshops, providing complete substantive and practical preparation.

Since 2010, the Central Refrigeration Centre 'COCH' in Kraków Sp. z o.o. has been cooperating with the renowned Viessmann brand, which guarantees the highest quality of education. Under this fruitful and long-standing cooperation, COCH training stands have been equipped with modern, fully operational heat pumps, including Vitocal 161-A, Vitocal 200-S, and Vitocal 350-A. Thus, participants have a unique opportunity to physically install, regulate, measure operating parameters, and service these advanced devices.

The basic training is designed both for individuals starting their journey with heat pumps and for experienced HVAC installers who wish to organize their knowledge and obtain the official, state-recognized RES installer certificate.

All-inclusive organizational package

The training spot is guaranteed by pre-payment made at least 3 business days before the scheduled course. All training materials, complete technical documentation, full catering (including a hot, two-course restaurant lunch every day), and secure parking on COCH premises are included in the training price. In case of participating in a multi-day training, it is possible to leave the car overnight free of charge in the closed area of the center.

RES Authorizations and UDT Accreditation

Possession of the RES installer certificate in the field of heat pumps is required by applicable legal regulations and confirms the highest qualifications.

Holding a certificate is based on the Act of 20 February 2015 on Renewable Energy Sources. According to the Act, an installer can submit an application to the President of the Office of Technical Inspection for the issuance of a document confirming qualifications to install heat pumps. To obtain a RES certificate, the installer must have an appropriate vocational diploma (e.g. technician of renewable energy devices and systems, sanitary engineering, thermal engineering, refrigeration, etc.) or undergo basic training in an accredited training centre and pass an exam before the UDT board.

  • Act of 20 February 2015 on Renewable Energy Sources (Journal of Laws 2015 item 478 as amended),
  • Regulation of the Minister of State Assets of 25 February 2020 on detailed conditions for granting accreditation to training providers in renewable energy sources (Journal of Laws 2020 item 348).

UDT Accreditation Reference

The Central Refrigeration Centre 'COCH' in Kraków Sp. z o.o. holds an official, lifelong accreditation of the Office of Technical Inspection, registration number OZE-A/12/00035/15.

How to get a RES installer certificate at UDT?

The legislator has provided two pathways for applying for a certificate issued by the President of the Office of Technical Inspection:

Direct pathway (without exam)

Dedicated to persons holding a field-specific vocational diploma (e.g., technician of renewable energy devices and systems) or a university degree in fields related to RES, sanitary, heating, electrical, or refrigeration installations. They can apply directly to UDT.

Training & exam pathway

Designed for persons without the above-mentioned field-specific education. It requires completing basic training in an accredited training centre (such as COCH) and passing a state exam before the UDT Examination Board.

Training Program – What does the course cover?

What does the UDT exam look like?

A two-stage verification of knowledge and practical skills conducted by inspectors of the Office of Technical Inspection.

The state qualification exam is organized after the basic training. It consists of two parts, both of which must be passed:

UDT RES Installer Certificate - legal basis

A qualification certificate for renewable energy source installers is issued by the Office of Technical Supervision (UDT) in Poland. It confirms competence under strict environmental and mechanical safety standards in the European Union, valid for 5 years with simple extension options.

01

Theoretical Part (Written)

A single-choice test consisting of questions verifying knowledge of legal regulations, technical standards, selection of heat pumps, and basics of thermodynamics.

02

Practical Part (Exam at the workstation)

Performing an installation or diagnostic task on an actual heat pump. The UDT inspector evaluates connection correctness, leak test procedures, vacuum execution, electrical connections, and controller configuration.

03

Obtaining the RES Installer Certificate

After passing the exam, the President of UDT issues an official certificate valid for a period of 5 years. The validity can be extended for another 5 years after completing a refresher training at an accredited centre.
