Accredited ATP testing

COCH Kraków operates Poland’s specialised ATP testing station under PCA accreditation AB 308 with ILAC MRA recognition.

We carry out accredited tests in accordance with the ATP Agreement on the carriage of perishable foodstuffs and the special means of transport used for such carriage. Tests cover:

  • thermally insulated road means of transport for perishable foodstuffs;
  • isothermal containers for road, rail and sea transport enabling multimodal transhipment;
  • insulated means of transport for temperature-sensitive goods — containers.

We perform temperature distribution tests, GDP and DPD mapping, issue ATP, FRC, FNA, GDP and DPD certificates, and carry out periodic inspections of isothermal bodies to extend ATP certificate validity.

Important: vehicles for carrying deep-frozen food must be fitted with a certified temperature recorder verified annually under EN 13486.

Comprehensive ATP service

Full range of tests required by the ATP Agreement for new and in-service vehicles. All measurements performed in our own accredited laboratory.

Temperature distribution

Measurement of temperature distribution inside the cargo space and GDP/DPD mapping.

K-coefficient

Accredited measurement of the global heat transfer coefficient – K ≤ 0.40 or 0.70 W/m²K.

Refrigeration unit

Verification of the effectiveness of FRC and FNA mechanical refrigeration units.

Leak control

Leak check of isothermal and refrigerated bodywork.

Thermograph verification

Verification and calibration of thermographs in accordance with EN 13486.

New and used vehicles

Inspections for initial certification and periodic checks for vehicles in service.

On-site testing

Inspections across Poland – from Kraków and our base in Międzyrzec Podlaski.

ATP transcription

Transcription of foreign ATP certificates and update of vehicle or owner data.

Within PCA accreditation

  • Inspections forming the basis for obtaining ATP certification
  • Measurements of the global heat transfer coefficient “K” for new and in-service means of transport
  • Full tests of mechanically and non-mechanically cooled means of transport (ice-cooled)
  • Tests of the useful cooling capacity of the refrigeration unit
  • “K” coefficient measurements for food tankers

Other tests and services

  • Measurements of the effectiveness of thermal devices (optionally with a thermal camera)
  • Leak checks of the refrigeration unit installation with issue of a certificate
  • Checking and calibration of thermograph readings
  • Installation and sale of certified thermographs
  • Thermographic imaging of heat losses in insulated bodies

Types of tested equipment

Isothermal and refrigerated delivery vehicles
Isothermal containers for multimodal transport
Refrigerated semi-trailers and trailers
Tankers for liquid food products

Frequently asked questions

Answers about ATP certification, technical testing, validity and markings.

According to the ATP Agreement (Annex 1, Appendix 1, Point 1), the validity of a certificate for a new means of transport is a maximum of 6 years. For in-service means of transport (ATP Agreement, Annex 1, Appendix 1, Points 5 and 6), the maximum validity period is 3 years from the date of the test. The above-mentioned validity periods are maximum periods and may be shortened depending on the condition of the equipment. See in the Journal of Laws.
