Qualification and verification of climatic, thermal and thermostatic chambers
For labs & test facilities
COCH verifies all types of chambers used in industry, laboratories, and clinical research:
| Chamber Type | Temperature Range | Standards Applied |
|-------------|-------------------|-------------------|
| Climatic chambers (T+RH) | -40°C to +180°C; 10–98% RH | EN 60068-3-5, DIN 50014 |
| Thermoclimatic chambers (thermal shock) | -70°C to +200°C | EN 60068-3-5, IEC 60068-2-14 |
| Thermostatic cabinets and drying ovens | +5°C to +300°C | DIN 12880, EN 60068-3-5 |
| Low-temperature chambers | -80°C to -150°C | EN 60068-3-5 |
| Humidity chambers (no T control) | 10–98% RH | ASTM E 145, ISO 483 |
| Water baths | -20°C to +200°C | Per client requirements |
Measurements are performed per EN 60068-3-5 and EURAMET cg-11:
Temperature uniformity (ΔT) - difference between the hottest and coldest point in the working volume under steady-state conditions. Measured at a minimum of 9 points (3×3 grid), and for large chambers (>500 l) at 27 points.
Temperature stability (δT) - maximum temperature change at a single point over time; measured for at least 30 minutes after conditions have stabilised.
Temperature gradient - vertical and horizontal temperature distribution; critical for natural convection chambers.
| Parameter | Typical Values |
|-----------|---------------|
| ΔT uniformity | ±0.5°C to ±3°C (depending on chamber type) |
| δT stability | ±0.2°C to ±1.5°C |
| Measurement uncertainty U | 0.1–0.5°C (k=2, p=95%) |
| Number of measurement points | 9 (V < 100 l) - 27 (V > 500 l) |
