Discover the benefits of collaboration between COCH and the Cracow University of Technology! Accredited testing and certification of air handling units for a competitive edge on the EU market.
In the dynamically developing HVAC industry (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning), product quality and compliance with international standards play a key role. The Central Refrigeration Centre “COCH” in Kraków and the Thermal Engineering Laboratory of the Cracow University of Technology have entered into a strategic collaboration to jointly offer top-quality testing and certification of air handling units, air-conditioning units and other ventilation equipment.

Why use COCH and CUT certification?

The signed agreement gives manufacturers comprehensive support that opens the way to easier entry onto the Polish and European markets. The most important benefits include:
- Competitive advantage – Equipment with certificates issued by COCH and test reports from the Cracow University of Technology gains confirmation of technical parameters and of the production process conformity, increasing its attractiveness in the eyes of customers.
- International recognition – Certificates accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation (PCA) and compliant with EU standards are recognised in various countries, significantly facilitating expansion abroad.
- Comprehensive testing and certification – Services cover not only certification of air handling and air-conditioning units, but also ventilation ducts, louvre grilles and control dampers.
Expertise and experience
The Thermal Engineering Laboratory holds Polish Centre for Accreditation accreditation no. AB 1632 with respect to the requirements of standard PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025 and is at the same time a European Notified Body no. 2919 (for assessment under EU Regulation 305/2011).

The laboratory located at the Cracow University of Technology is a recognised centre in Poland and Europe performing accredited testing of air handling units and ventilation system components. The unit also specialises in internationally recognised testing of thermal resistance and heat transfer coefficients of building partitions, including windows, roof windows, doors and curtain walls. The laboratory also holds PCA accreditation and many years of experience in advanced numerical calculations of heat and fluid flow.
COCH, in turn, is one of the leading certification bodies in Poland. Accredited by PCA (no. AC 036) and notified in the EU (no. 1462), it has for years supported manufacturers in the certification of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment and heat pumps. It additionally offers certification in line with the following directives:
- PED 2014/68/EU (pressure equipment),
- SPVD 2014/29/EU (simple pressure vessels),
- Noise Directive 2000/14/EC.
COCH’s Product Certification Department also certifies means of transport for pharmaceutical products and issues opinions for electricity producers in high-efficiency cogeneration units, while being one of the few assessment bodies in Poland approved by the Energy Regulatory Office. Recently the body successfully completed a Polish Centre for Accreditation audit expanding its activity, among other areas, to certification of ventilation products.
Standards and scope of testing
The COCH and CUT collaboration covers testing in accordance with the most important industry standards, such as:
