The programme focused on practical topics linking theory with application. Activities included:

  • Hard soldering/brazing – students made soldered joints and checked their tightness.
  • Testing of refrigeration equipment and heat pumps – diagnostic methods and applications, including refrigerated furniture testing.
  • Acoustic tests in an anechoic chamber – methods of analysing noise generated by refrigeration equipment.
  • Experiments with dry ice – sublimation of dry ice and its applications.
  • Effect of pressure on boiling temperature – experiments illustrating how pressure changes liquid properties.

During the workshops students learned methods and technologies used in refrigeration and asked questions on topics such as acoustic testing and noise reduction.
